Copper alloy with enamel Brooch. Plate Brooch. Cast plate with a round central compartment surrounded by a ring of thirteen pellets within a thirteen pointed star or chevron pattern; the spaces between these features were presumably intended to receive enamel. The stub of a hinged catch plate and the housing for a hinged pin (lost) remain on the back. Patches of red enamel remain between the inner ring and the chevron decoration; Mackreth (2011) Plate type 2c. Suggested date: Roman, 120-250. Diameter: 20.7mm, Thickness (clear of pin gear): 1.7mm, Weight: 3.16gms.

Colchester Derivative, rear-hook brooch. Plain curved wings - if decorated, only the relict of a terminal band appears at one end only - with a backward pointing hook above them, formerly grasping a spring (lost), Mackreth (2011) type CD RH ?4Kc. A plain D-section bow grasps the wings, then tapers to a plain foot with the stub of a possibly unpierced catch plate behind it. Suggested date: Early Roman, 50-100.
