It is of composite, three-piece construction, formed of a sheet spacer plate occupying the whole width, between a pair of sheets. A late Saxon copper alloy strap end belonging to Haldenby's Group 16 (cross-hatched types). The strap end has a split end with two intact rivets. The terminal is zoomorphic and has flat ears. On the body are two symmetrically opposed panels comprising ornate frames infilled with cross-hatching. Between the frames is a cross. At the attachment end is a D-shaped slightly hollow area which appears to contain the remains of a silver inlay.

The strap-end is sub-trapezoidal, narrowing gradually before a circular expansion at the terminal before a narrow protrusion, now abraded and possibly broken.
