Two complete beehive quern stones tops of Roman date. The stones are domed with a fluted upper surface and central perforations. Both stones appear to have side perforations though these are extremely worn on one. Unmalted grain would have been poured into the vertical central perforation while the stone was turned by a handle projecting from the side perforations. The upper stone was held in place over the lower stone by a bridge or rynd of wood or metal - frequently iron - which is likely to account for the iron plug in one of these examples. An incomplete cast copper alloy Hod Hill brooch of Roman date. The head of the brooch is tubular and is formed by rolling over a rectangular plate creating the hinge for the pin. The pin no longer remains. From the head the metal tapers into the bow before expanding into short shoulders. The bow is rectangular in plan though the sides are extremely worn and the upper surface is decorated with a raised central spine with moulded knot design. A complete cast copper alloy figurine of a cockerel of probable Roman date. The figurine is cast in one piece and depicts a cockerel standing with its head turned slightly to the right. The head, tail, wings and body all remain in tact with feathered details picked out on the wings and tail by incised lines. An incomplete cast copper alloy stand of Roman date. Stands such as this have been interpreted as votive model altars and is one tier of a probable three tiered object. The altar is square in plan with a flat top and hollow base and four small worn knops projecting from each corner of the upper surface which would have allowed the stand to secure into holes in the legs of an upper tier. The sides of the object are decorated with a recessed square with a saltaire cross, the resulting cells of which are infilled with enamel.
