A Roman cast copper-alloy pin head (43-410 AD). The head is polyhedral in form (a cuboid with the corners cut off), rectangular in section and has thirteen faces. None of the faces are decorated. A small portion of the shaft is circular in cross-section and there is no collar between the head and shaft. Polyhedral pins are dated to both to the Roman and Early Medieval periods. An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy Hod Hill bow brooch (c. 43-c. 75 AD). The bow, the pin and the catch-plate are incomplete. The flat head of the brooch is sub-triangular in plan and the top is folded forwards to form tubular wings to house an iron axis bar which is intact. The bar secures a copper-alloy pin loop that is fused to the wings. The bow is strongly curved in side profile and the central part of the bow is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear. One side is smoother than the other and the breaks are abraded. This tile is orangey and the core is partially grey. 154.02 x 145.04 x 41.60mm. Weight: c. 1141g. Found in the inter-tidal zone.
