The wings are semi-cylindrical in plan with pierced, closed end caps. Each wing has a wedge attached to the head. A large copper alloy Roman coin, from the size, condition and weight it best fits with the coins of the Diocletian Reform - Tetrachy 296-317 (Reece Period 15). The condition is very poor having severe corrosion and pitting present - the weight will have been affected by this.

Grid F12
Two fragments of possible ceramic building material. The fragments are relatively robust and it is possible that they could be large sherds from Severn Valley vessels: however from their shape, it is more likely that they are fired remnants of rough brick or tile. The fabric of the fragments is very similar to Severn Valley pottery dating from the Roman period (100-400 AD). However such a tight date cannot be suggested for these as this form of pottery is very local - and therefore the clay source would have been used throughout the historic perio…

Nine sherds from Severn Valley coarseware pottery vessels. As the fabric, colour and thickness differs in each sherd it is likely that different vessels are represented in the assemblage. Not enough survives of the sherds to indicate the form or overall vessel size. The sherds date from the Roman period (50 - 410).
All the sherds are irregular in plan and broadly sub-rectangular in profile. The sherds are also worn and abraded by movement in the ploughsoil. The fabric is a relatively soft fired earthenware with a number of small …
