A sherd of samian ware. Body sherd with a soft, soapy and smooth orange fabric. Small patches of the shiny orange slip remain on both sides of the sherd.
The sherd is 26mm long, 20.9mm wide, 5.3mm thick and weighs 2.4g.

Base sherd of Roman Poole-Wareham Black Burnished ware (BB1), 100-410 AD. The sherd has a dark black outer surface, mid-grey core and re-oxdised mid-orange inner surface. It is abraded with the burnished surface lost from the outside if it did reach this far down the vessel. The fabric is fairly coarse, with the distinctive cods-roe fracture. The incomplete base from an Oxford colour coated (OXRC) ware vessel of Roman date. Approximately three quarters of the base and lower parts of the vessel survive intact, the remainder of the object now missing due to old breaks. It has worn surfaces now missing their colour coat, with hard fabric fired grey at the core and with few red or white inclusions, possibly with traces of mica. It measures 86.29mm in base diameter, 89.87mm in width, 62.66mm in length, 15.71mm in height and 99.44g in weight. It is of late Roman date, probably c.4th century AD.

A fragment of a wheelspun ceramic vessel of Roman date. The fragment is a body sherd from a grey ware vessel with a hard, fairly coarse and grey fabric. The external surface of the vessel is decorated with a zig zag pattern lightly impressed into the fabric.
The sherd is 48.3mm long, 33.1mm wide, 6.1mm thick and weighs 9.1g.
A similar sherd can be seen on the database as NLM-E78A38 and also in Laing, p.69, no.104.

Two sherds of ceramic vessels, Roman in date. One is a rim sherd and one is a wall sherd, both of greyware.
The rim sherd is reduced dark grey fabric, hard with an irregular texture. There are frequent, poorly sorted angular quartz inclusions and grey (grit?) inclusions. The rim is simply rounded and flares outwards. The rim diameter is about 120mm. The sherd is 34.45mm long, 28.01mm wide and 6mm thick. 7.15g.

A sherd of a Roman ceramic vessel, probably calcite gritted ware. It is a wall sherd and the fabric is fairly hard with an irregular texture. The core is reduced and dark grey, but the outer faces are buff coloured. There are occasional large white crystal inclusions. There are concretions of iron rich rough material on both faces, probably picked up from the surrounding soil.

Two sherds of ceramic vessels, both Roman greywares, and both base sherds.
1. A base sherd which has fractured so a flake of the base has separated. The fabric is hard and irregular with a light grey core and a darker surface on the outer face. There are frequent well sorted quartz and grit inclusions. There are clear concentric circles on the base where the pot was cut off the wheel with a wire. A base sherd from a very worn Roman Oxford colour-coated ware (OXRC) vessel, missing most of its slip due to post-depositional wear. Approximately half of the ring base survives intact, as well as part of one wall, with a relativley soft orange fabric that has some micaceous inclusions. The entire sherd is very worn/abraded and measures 60.79mm in base diameter, 64.17mm in maximum width, 49.24mm in length, 18.42mm in height, 5.67mm in thickness and 25.50g in weight. This is a base from a Roman Oxford colour-coated ware vessel and dates to the late Roman period, c.4th century AD.
