A sherd of samian ware. Body sherd with a soft, soapy and smooth orange fabric. Small patches of the shiny orange slip remain on both sides of the sherd. The sherd is 26mm long, 20.9mm wide, 5.3mm thick and weighs 2.4g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date. The head, bow, acanthus moulding and foot all survive, but the pin and catchplate no longer remain. From the reverse of the head the worn remains of the pin can be seen. The head is trumpet shaped and from here the bow extends into the acanthus moulding. The lower box extends from this point and terminates in a D-shaped foot knop. From the reverse of the lower bow the worn remains of the catchplate can be seen. The brooch is coated in a thick layer of iron corrosion which renders any further detail completely indiscernible…

An incomplete cast copper alloy Trumpet headed brooch of Roman date. The head and attachment loop are all that survive. The reverse of the trumpet shaped head is concave to hold the pin mechanism but this no longer remains and from the top of the head a rectangular attachment loop projects with a central circular hole projects. From the centre of the head the upper bow extends terminating in an old worn break. The metal is a dark blackish-brown colour and is worn. The brooch is 22.6mm long, 14.1mm wide, 10.3mm thick and weighs 4.7g. Similar examples are illustrated in Hattatt, p.329…
