An incomplete copper-alloy Late Roman flat-bladed nail-cleaner with varying decoration. The upper surface of the 'leaf-shaped' body is decorated with an incised pattern which comprises two roughly equal-sized panels, aligned longitudinally, their straight inner sides changing to wavy at the top. The panel on the left hand side is largely occupied by punched crescents; an area of wavy grooves separates these from an incomplete ring mark, located at the top. An incomplete copper-alloy Colchester derivative brooch, dating from the mid to late 1st century AD. The wings consist of an open-ended half-cylinder, their only decoration being a single vertical groove at either end of the upper surface. The now-missing spring would originally have been held in place by a central, forward-facing hook, which is located above the centre point of the head's underside.
