The bezel, or tooth, fragment of a cast copper alloy Ring Key of Roman date. The key is square with a rectangular slot with a horizontal groove above and below. The ring frame is 2.5mm wide and approximately 20mm in diameter. The bezel/bit is 15mm wide and 13mm high.

A fragment of drak brown stone with high percentage og quartzite and grit inclusions. Rectangular in section, and trapezoidal in plan due to the breaks, the lowers srface is uneven and broken, while the upper surface is smooth and slightly concave. The basic form of the upper surface and nature fo the stone suggest that this may be a fragment of quern stone of Roman date. Several quernstones can be found on this database for comparison.

A body sherd fragment of samian ware, or terra sigilata, pottrey of Roman date. The dark orange-red slip suggests that this may have been produced in either Southern or Central Gaul. samian ware was exported from gaul from teh First to Third centuries AD. The vessel was probably a shallow bowl and has some roulette decoration around it.

Pommel cap from a scale handled knife in the form of two opposed horses' heads which, when viewed from the side appear to represent hooves. On the flat underside of the cap is a groove containing traces of iron corrosion from the blade. This form of pommel is likely to date from the 16th century.

Cast copper alloy pin from a ring brooch or buckle, square section tapering to point, integral ring originally 12mm diameter, now broken. The point where the pin shank meets the ring is marked by two transverse grooves. In London pins of this form were found in contexts dating between 1270 and 1400 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, Nos 541, 547, 549)

A bent and very worn silver hammered penny of Medieval Scottish issue. The obverse is illegible and is obscured by the folding. The reverse is on the outside and is a voided longcross with a six-pointed star in each quarter. This is likely to be an Alexander III issue.

Decorative mount made from pressed sheet copper alloy, In the centre is a raised ring in which is what appears to be a flower. Either side of the ring are sets for five raised bars. While the object is damaged it appears to be more or less complete. Through each of the side elements is a 1.5mm diameter attachment hole. Decorative mounts like this were common in the 14th century.

A fragment of worked dark bronwn coloured flint. On one side is a bulb of percussion, on the opposite side are three longitudinal facets where blades have been removed. This is a discarded fragment rather than a completed working tool in its own right, but is evidence of some flint working of Late Mesolithic to early Neolitic date in the area.

Two fragments of debitage.
A) The flint is a core fragment of a transluscent brown and grey colour with mottling. A bulb of percussion is visible on the underside, and ripples of percussion visible on the upper surface. There is no retouch at the edges. Pear-shaped in plan. 32mm x 25mm x 4mm. 4.21g.
B) A transcluscent brown flint with a bulb of percussion on the underside and facets on the upperside. There is no retouch. There is some coretex on one narrow edge. rectangular in plan. 20mm x 20mm x 1.5mm. 1.62g.
