Description: A bent gold finger ring engraved with a heart with crossed arrows on each side flanked by scrolling foliage. The band is D-shaped in section and the inside bears the inscription 'Kindly take this for my sake' followed by a stamped IY (or IV). Discussion: See ring in the British Museum collections, 1961,1202.116, for a ring with the same mark, probably that of John Young entered in 1760 and in use until at least 1793. The find dates to later than 1712 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

A gold ring or hoop, damaged. The ring has been pinched so that it has a drop-shaped plan. The ring is circular in section, but with a narrow flattened face internally. The surface of the ring has small nicks and irregularities suggestive of a general lack of finishing after casting and damage sustained during its use prior to deposition. No hallmarks or other identifying features are visible.

A hoard of 17 coins, 10 of which are gold and 7 of which are silver, of various denominations, issue, and date. Details are in the attached catalogue. The vessel is a Bartmann jug of the Frechen ceramic industry (Rhineland, Germany), of a form dating to 1551-1700. The vessel is 134mm in height and bears the distinctive mottled brown glaze of the kilns of Frechen. Notably, the jug bears evidence for a missing oval boss fixed to the body opposite the handle. The hoard was probably deposited soon after 1562, based on the date of the latest coin and the degree of wear visible. This da…
