Part of a perforated stone mace head or pebble hammer. It was broken in antiquity irregularly through the shaft hole, which is cylindrical and approximately 12 - 15mm in diameter. The shaft hole has been drilled from each side, meeting about halfway across, with the second bore slightly misaligned. The stone is heavily weathered and pitted, as well as cracked. It is almost lozenge shaped in section and a pointed oval in plan. The stone is probably quartzite and is a light yellow grey colour. An important clue to its age is given by the fact that the shaft hole is drilled and not …

An incomplete Middle Bronze Age cast copper-alloy palstave (1500 BC-1150 BC). This object is the majority of a blade. It has an asymmetrical cutting edge and a transverse break at the top. From the breaks both sides flare outwards and downwards to the cutting edge which is corroded and blunt. It is 'V'-shaped in side profile. The surfaces are pitted and corroded. There are no cast marks or evidence for re-sharpening. The break is old and abraded.

A cast copper alloy Late Bronze Age socketed leaf-shaped spearhead, probably of Wilburton or Ewart Park Metalwork Assemblages, c.1200-c. 800 BC. The spearhead is incomplete, missing both the spear head tip end and a portion of the socket and ribs. Part of the circular socket survives with damage arround its edge and it is likely that the spearhead had peg or rivet holes. One of the blades of the spearhead is intact, however the other is is damaged along the outer edge. The spearhead is roughly leaf-shaped in plan, with a lozengiform cross-section near the break at the spearhead tip, wh…

Mottled dark and pale grey flint, lightly crazed by burning, possible plano-convex knife fragment. Knapped triangular flake fragment with a flat surface on its dorsal aspect and a concave ventral surface. The dorsal aspect bears pressure flaking scars around the converging edges running right up to a break. Lighter pressure flaking may extend to the third, broken, side. If so, indicates that it was intended to abate its sharpness to enable the continued use of a broken tool; the flat upper surface also provides a convenient thumb rest to facilitate its use in truncated form. The burni…

The gouge tapers in profile from the open end to a point at the cutting edge which is curved into a semi-circle so that it can gouge out sections of wood etc. The surface is pitted and some of the original patina remains on the inside and outside of the gouge, but the damaged edges have become worn and corroded and there ar…

Cast copper alloy fragment of a collar from a socketed axe, semi-circular in plan, B-shaped in profile and in section. The collar is quite substantial at about 12 mm deep and 9 mm thick, and there is quite a deep indented area below it before the body of the axe begins with a raised ridge. Along this ridge at one side of the axe is the remains of the base of the side loop, which has worn into a point. The surface is pitted and some of the original patina remains on the collar but the projecting sections have become worn and corroded and there are patches of light green bronze disease.…

The original surface has mostly corroded away and there are patches of light green bronze disease. Bronze Age copper alloy awl. The object has a dark brown patina broken by scratches showing as light brown around the sharp end, and by green corrosion at the very tip of the sharp end, and in a small spot on the side. The point of the awl is very blunt and is circular in section. The section becomes sub-square two-thirds of the way along the awl's length, and then slopes to a thin sub-rectangular section at the other end. The object is 55mm long, 4mm wide, 4mm thick and weighs 4.67g.

Bag-shaped dagger scabbard chape with three perforations through both faces (five remain blocked by a ferrous deposit). Each perforation lies in the centre of a circular mark on the outer face, probably the result of the drilling process rather than a purposefully made ring. One end of a cast copper alloy awl or tracer. The centre of the awl, which is sub-square in cross-section, measures 4.7mm by 4.6mm. This centre is at the transition from a circular section to a square cross section. To one side it tapers, gradually at first then increasingly, to a circular sectioned point at the complete end (awl). The other end is rectangular in section and tapers gradually to the old break (3.7mm by 4.0mm) but probably originally ended in a rectangular sectioned point (tracer end).
