An incomplete copper-alloy sheet scale pan of medieval date, 14th or 15th century. From the illustration (see notes, below) it appears that around two-thirds of the pan survives. It is dished to a depth of 9.5mm. Such artefacts usually have three circular perforations for suspension from the beam by strings (Egan 1998, 322); this broken example only features two. On the internal base of the pan is a finely incised flower motif of six compass drawn petals, each a narrow pointed oval in shape. A complete cast copper-alloy lock pin. The perforated long rectangular shaft with iron corrosion still present inside and around the outside of the hole. The hollow and domed head has a protruding lip around the outside edge and has a sunken pellet in the centre, surrounded by a single concentric circle with small regular incisions at approximately 9mm from the centre. Inside of this circle, there appears to be remains of white metal coating around the edges. Behind the domed head, there is no decoration. A lead personal seal matrix of mid to late 13th century date. The seal die is pointed-oval and flat, and has a projection at the top containing a horizontal attachment hole. The object is worn, bent and corroded. It measures 44.1mm high by 25.5mm wide and 5.6mm thick. The central image sits within an indented border and, when printed, depicts a man standing on the left hand end of a boat, facing right and steering the boat with a long rudder pole.
