A well preserved medieval copper-alloy bar mount from a strap (c. 14th century). The mount has a plain terminal lobe at each end with a central bulbous lobe decorated with four transverse grooves. To one side, the transverse grooves have been crudely scored at right angles to create rectagular segments. There is a drilled circular rivet hole in both of the smaller terminal lobes as well as the central lobe. There are the remains of two copper alloy rivets in the terminal lobes. The reverse is recessed in all three lobes, central and terminal, and contain corrosion product. The moun…

Copper-alloy cross-shaped strap distributor (length 18mm, width 17.5mm, thickness 3mm, weight 2.51g). It has a cross-shaped frame with a cross-shaped aperture in the centre; the angles of the cross are curved and the ends of each have a narrow recess in the centre. Compare SUR-077856, BERK-EF5D92, SOM-294FD3 and LIN-040B56. An example from Middle Harling, Norfolk, mis-identified as a horse-harness pendant (Margeson in Rogerson 1995, p. 68, fig. 51, cat. no. 129) was found by metal-detecting and so does not help in dating, but another example from Winchester (Biddle 1990, no. 1402) was…
