A Medieval silver hinge probably from a casket, probably dating to the 14th century. This object is curved, possibly to fit lengthways down a rod or similar. A Post-Medieval Post Office lead bag seal from the reign of William III (1689-1702) or Anne (1702-14) of the House of Stuart. Obverse: Crown above G·POS[T] (General Post) with a rose below Reverse: Two oval shields, on the left, an eagle displayed, head left and on the right, a dolphin embowed left with two saltires in chief. It has been mis-stamped over part of the front. A perforation runs through form top to bottom to hold the bag cord around which it was clamped. A cast copper alloy Medieval strap end, probably dating from the 14th century. It is sub rectangular in plan, and has a trefoil end with a rounded projection below the trefoil and another narrow oval projection below this. The back plate appears to have broken away just below the first rounded projection. There is a rivet remaining joining the two plates in the middle of the rounded projection, but only the one plate remains below this point and it is broken off with no rivet holes remaining. Parcel-gilt terminal in the form of a semi-naturalistic boar's head with garnet eyes. The boar's head is cast with an elongated head and blunt ended snout. This is defined by three grooves which are gilded. Above these, the mouth, also gilded, is broadly drawn using linked grooves which end in sharply pointed tusks. The eyes, set high on the head, are small and made using tiny oval cabochon garnets set in a double collar of beaded gold filigree. An incomplete cast copper alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date. The reverse of the head is concave to accommodate the spring mechanism and has an integral loop to hold the spring. The pin no longer remains. The head itself is trumpet shaped and tapers to form the upper bow which extends to a circumferential collar. Below the collar is an elaborate acanthus decoration followed by a second circumferential collar.
