Cast copper alloy cauldron handle fragment dating from the post-medieval period, that is c. AD1500-1700. Only c. 50% of the handle survive, probably the lower bit which was attached to the body of the vessel. The upper part would have sat at a right angle, touching the rim of the cauldron or vessel just above the shoulder. The vessel was probably a globular cauldron with flaring rim and three or possibly four legs.

A Post Medieval incomplete lead alloy button with integral undrilled shank, probably dating to the 16th century. This is a discoidal, solid button with a convex front and flat back. The front surface is decorated with radiating lines forming a border around the edge and the centre is plain. This is a mould line across the centre of the back, interrupted by the shank. The shank is broken and missing but the surviving remains suggest it would have been a circular-section, simple loop shank. Read (2005, 69) illustrates buttons of similar form which he suggests date to the 16th century. N…

Cast copper-alloy trumpet brooch dating from the early Roman period, that is c. AD75-175. The brooch is incomplete and very worn with pin, pin rest and spring missing. It look as if the spring and pin had been made from iron: there is iron residue around the axis bar. Maybe the axis bar itself was made from iron. The internal axis bar loop and brooch boy were made from cast copper alloy with a trumpet-shaped head covering the axis bar and spring and a curved body which is decorated with moulded decoration. Even though very worn it is still identifiable: the middle of the bow was decor…

A cast copper alloy fitting, possibly a handle attachment for a copper alloy vessel. The object consists of a square-section 'skirted' fitting with a separate length of rod which appears incomplete and which is inserted into a cylindrical extension below the 'skirt'. The fitting itself has a circular pit on one side. Engraved radiating lines decorate the 'skirt' and there are crossing lines on either side of the square. The function of this object is unclear but it may have held a handle from a vessel.

Cast copper alloy mount in the shape of a bird, possibly an eagle, possibly dating from the Roman period, that is c. AD43-410. The mount is very worn and even though the upper surface still shows some details, most of the surface shows abbrasions and a flaky patina. The shape of the bird is retain well, however: it sits on a small pedestal that terminates in a small rivet. The bird sits quietly, with its wings half spread. The tail is slightly fan-shaped and the winds large and round. Moulded feathers are visible on the upper and underside of the wings. The bird's neck is thick and lo…
