An incomplete leaf-shaped nail cleaner from a Roman toilet set. The attachment loop has a curved top and circular perforation of 3.07mm. The loop is 1.75mm thick and lays in the same plane as the shaft. The loop and shaft are separated by two moulded reels spaced 2.75mm apart. These reels have a diameter of 5.75mm and are 2.40mm thick (upper reel) and 2.35mm (lower reel) thick. The spaces between the reels also have a circular cross section. A cast copper-alloy bell of probable Roman date, c. 43-410. The bell is conical, with damage to the body from the lower edge. The lower edge has two parallel raised bands running around the base, and the apex has a suspension loop of oval shape with a circular perforation, cast integral to the body of the bell and distinguished by a cast-integral 'cap' over the peak of the bell. A copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount, dating from the Early-Medieval to Medieval periods. The mount is sub-pentagonal in plan and decorated with a symmetrical zoomorphic design. On either side of the mount, extending from the apex, is a downward-facing animal head. The deeply curved snout protrudes beyond the width of the straight side below, the tip of the snout, the brow ridge and ear taking the form of rounded lobes.
