A complete flint denticulate of Mesolithic date 8300-3500 BC. The right hand and distal edge are abruptly blunted and the dorsal surface roughly worked with four predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises. The left hand edge has five distinct notches which create a saw like cutting edge. The ventral surface contains three predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises. The lithic also contains a sub-rectangular perforation to the left/mesial portion, the ventral side of which appears more ovate. This is an intentional perforation and there are working marks present …

A complete flint microlith of mesolithic date 8300-3500 BC. The dorsal surface has one predominant arrise left of the centre which runs from proximal to distal ends. There are numerous negative scars across the dorsal surface with a possible striking platform slightly left the centre of the proximal end. The outer margin has fine retouch creating a serrated edge. The ventral surface is predominantly smooth with ripples of percussion running from the left hand side centrally and one large negative scar to the distal end. Three small fragments of flint blades with retouched edges. 1. Proximal end of a knapped flint tertiary blade. Bulb of percussion, bulb scars and ripples on the ventral face. It is triangular in section with a central ridge on the dorsal face. The right edge (looking from the ventral face) has been retouched with short, scalar, semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch from the dorsal face. Retouched snap at the distal end. There appears to be the start of a deliberate retouched notch for snapping the blade in the centre of the left edge before it thickens around the bulb. Dark grey translucent…

One fragment of a knapped flint blade and one bladelet or piece of debitage, both probably Mesolithic in date. The bladelet has a bulb of percusison on the ventral face and evidence of previous parallel removals form the same platform on the dorsal face; 0.37 grams. The fragment is the middle section of a blade with clear percussion waves on the ventral face and arises from parallel removals on the dorsal. There are multiple chips from the edges, some of which maybe accidental others may be from deliberate attempts to snap the blade; 0.97 grams. High quality dark grey flint.

Reddish brown flint blade. Probably local to the area where it was found, originating from the glacial clay or perhaps river gravels. It is a by-product of the shaping of a larger irregular lump of flint, so that regular shaped pieces can be taken off it to work into tools. The longer than narrow, parallel sided shape is characterised as a blade. In some circumstances the blades are then 'retouched' by finely working the edge in a deliberate way to produce tools or sometimes they can be just used as they are without further working, for cutting or scraping. This one does not betra…
