Cast lead or lead alloy pyramid standing weight of probable medieval date (1300 - 1550). The weight is sub-rectangular in plan and triangular in profile. The width of the weight tapers from the base (where it is widest) to the top. The upper of the weight is deliberately flattened and through this a small irregular hole has been pierced. This hole is off-centre and slightly sloping; it has a diameter of 3.6mm. It is likely that the purpose of this hole is to have aided safe-keeping and storage. The base of the weight is square in plan and has an irregular dished / concave cavity. The w…

Circular lead weight or gaming piece. Circular possible weight or gaming piece which has a raised edge. It is decorated by 3 concentric circles, the central one being filled in. The back is plain but has some scratch marks and chips probably due to wear. Its function is unclear as although it appears decorative there is no obvious method of attachment. It could possibly be a gaming token or a weight.
