A fragment of a medieval tile with yellow glazed decoration on one surface. This is divided in two parts with a curved line and has scrolling foliate decoration either side of this line. The fabric is red on the exterior and reduced black on the interior. The Chilterns were the centre for an important tile industry, based at Penn, in the fourteenth century (Eames 1968, 16-21). This tile is of comparable style and manufacture.

Four ceramic sherds. Two rim sherds, possibly Roman in date. One appears wheel made with a plain rim that has an internal ridge. The fabric is reduced on the outer layers and oxidised in the centre. The other has a plain folded rim and appears ridged on the exterior. The two body sherds have a flint and quartz temper. One has traces of combed decoration.
