A complete cast lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. The object is circular in plan with a flat top and base, rounded, slightly sloping sides and a central perforation. The whorl is undecorated. The metal is a mid whitish-grey colour and is worn. The spindle whorl is 28.4mm in diameter, 7.6mm thick and weighs 37.7g. Lead spindle whorls were commonly used from the Iron Age through to the post-medieval period and are difficult to date with any certainty. An incomplete cast copper alloy furniture fitting of uncertain date - posssibly from the Roman period. This fitting consists of a hollow copper alloy mount with large central projecting boss / knob. The sides of the boss have an iron filled transverse hole / piercing (diameter: 4.5mm) which may once have held a small handle / swivel. The underside of the mount is concave and filled with the corroded remains of an iron shank. The artefact is heavily abraded around its rim and has a well developed green patina. An incomplete and undatable faceted cone-shaped lead weight with an incomplete triangular projection (2.41mm thick, 6.99mm wide) straddling the width at the wider flat end (9.75x7.44mm), while the opposite end bends to one side (2.52x2.14mm). It measures 23.57mm long and weighs 7.6g. The weight is unequally-octagonal in cross-section and tapers to the bent end. The trinagu.lar projection is not pierced but is broken at the apex.
