Roman Brooch: Incomplete and worn cast copper alloy Headstud brooch. The bow, foot and wings of the brooch survive. The head loop is missing although slight races of where this attached remain. The wings are cylindrical and the axis bar for the hinged pin is encased within. The top of the hinged pin fitting is in situ. The bow is semi-circular in section. On the arch of the bow is the worn headstud which consists of a raised outer circular rim with a central raised pellet. Incomplete and worn cast copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch. The brooch is sub-circular in form with a domed central boss and hollow reverse. The domed boss is decorated with a roundel design of enamel filled cells. The outer ring consists of blue triangular cells and there is an inner ring of samller red triangular cells. The remains of the hinged pin fittings survive on the rear but the pin is missing. Brooches of this type are typically dated AD. c.100-250.

A copper alloy Roman brooch; a rectangular plate brooch which is decorated by being silvered on the front. Th edges of the plate are damaged, but it appears to be complete. The front is silvered and scratched, but there does not appear to be any further decoration. On the reverse is a central projecting ridge. It is concave in the centre and extends at one end to for the catchplate (the turnover is missing, and is broken across a circular perforation at the other end. A copper alloy Roman brooch; a T shaped brooch dating from 43 - 200 AD, of which only the upper bow survives. The wings are long and tubular. They are decorated with two incised bands at each end. They hold a copper alloy axis bar and a slot is provided for the copper alloy pin of which only a fragment of the head survives. The bow is very thin, but wide at the top. A copper alloy Roman brooch; a trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD, of which only the upper bow survives. The plain trumpet head is much wider than it is tall. It has a simple incised border and tapers into the upper bow. It is broken immediately below a beaded collar. A stub of metal projects upwards from the centre of the trumpet head. A cast copper alloy Roman dolphin style brooch, dating to the first century AD. The brooch is almost complete, missing only its pin. The bow is decorated with raised vertical ribs that run down the centre of the spine; the wings enclose the spring and are decorated with a single incised line at either end. The bow is slightly twisted towards the foot where the catch plate is retained intact. This brooch is similar to those illustrated in Hattatt (2000) nos 882 and 817.

A copper alloy Roman brooch; a trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD, of which only the lower bow survives. The acanthus button is on the front only, and has three petals at the top and three at the bottom. Below is a triple collar. The lower bow is decorated with two vertical recessed panels, with a raised chevron at the top of each, both pointing inwards forming a cross (X) at the top of the decorated area. The foot is missing but part of the catchplate survives. The breaks are worn and patinated. The whole brooch has a dark green patina.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman enamelled umbonate brooch. The brooch is domed and covered with two concentric rings of small triangular cells. The outer ring cells are, alternatively, filled with white and blue enamel. The inner tringular cells are narrower and inlaid with white and red enamel. A small conical hollow at the centre shows no trace of enamel. The hinged pin and the stub of catchplate extend beyond the back. The reverse of the dome is concave shaped. A part of the pin lug and the catchplate have been preserved, the pin is missing.

A cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends), Mackreth 2011, 4.l, Plate 46. Dating from the late first century to second century AD. The brooch is a large and bulky example of the type and has tubular wings that are open at the reverse for the sprung pin mechanism, retained inside. The spring appears to have 14 coils. Crescent-type Aesica brooch, spring, pin, part of catchplate and one corner of foot missing, in quite fresh condition despite some pock marking especially on reverse. The method of manufacture is cast-in-one. Single oblique groove on both wings, and grooves on bow, crescent and foot. The "crescent" is D-shaped with a very sharp and straight upper edge. Its wingspan is 17.5 mm and its length is 33 mm. Dates to the mid 1st century.
