An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman Colchester-derivative rear hook bow brooch. It is missing the wings, spring, pin, foot and catchplate due to old breaks. What survives of the wings suggests they were semi-cylindrical in form and may have been deliberately remove, although this may simply be the result of post-depositional damage. They are separated by an integrally cast rear facing hook. It is very worn and difficult to ascertain whether the wings are decorated but there appears to be a single circumferential line on each. An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of Hod Hill type. Part of the hinge and the top of the bow are present, the rest missing due to old breaks. The bow is rectangular in shape and tapers slightly towards the foot and is flat in section. It is decorated with a wavy rib down the centre with a row of pellets to each side. There is a rasied rib at each edge. It measures 31.51mm in length, 10.29mm in width, 2.34mm in thickness and weighs 3.02g. It is similar to examples published from Hatcheston (Blagg et al, 2004, nos 23 and 29).
