Record ID: SF-EA0886
Object type: COIN
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper-alloy Roman nummus. Both emporer and type are uncertain because the coin is very worn. It may be struck for the House of Theodosius (Possibly for Valentinian II) and the type may well be one of the 'VOT MULT...' types with wreath. However this is uncertain. If the identification is corrent, then it would be expected to have been struck in the period 379-87 but a more general date of 364-88, including the posibility of it being another type of Valentinian II, is probably safest. Diameter 17.04mm, 2.73g.
