A large and bulky cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of Polden Hill type, dating from the late first to second century AD. The brooch is largely complete apart from its missing pin and the sprung pin mechanism is still held in place within the hollow semi-cylindrical wings. The wings have pierced plates at either end. A lug projects from the rear of the head for attachment of the spring cord. There are moulded semi-circular plates above the wings on either side of the head. Roman copper alloy zoomorphic (duck) plate brooch. It is 22.61 mm long, 7.26 mm wide and 8.88 mm thick. The object is in a fair condition and weighs 1.35 grms. It is a plate brooch portraying a swimming duck. The duck is only missing its tail. The body of the duck is formed by the plate which is oval shaped in form; the neck, projecting from the plate, is cylindrical and curves forming a rounded head with a flattened oval shaped beak. The upper half of a cast copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative brooch (possibly Dolphin type) dating to the 1st century AD. It is a plate brooch portraying a swimming duck. The duck, which retains only the central part of its body and part of its neck, is missing its head and its tail. The plate, representing the body of the duck, is oval shaped in form and has an enamelled decoration comprising two central red strips. On the reverse side, remains of the catch-plate and of the semi-circular lug are present.

The animal is missing part of its head and wing. The leg and foot from a corroded cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch of probable 1st-century AD date. The triangular catch-plate survives well and has a sub-triangular perforation. The curved element which retains the pin is 15.5mm long, with abrasions at both ends. It is delineated by a longitudinal groove. The bow is broken just above the catch-plate; it can be seen to be broadly triangular in cross-section. The brooch has a variable mid-green patina.

An incomplete and badly abraded cast copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill style, brooch of Roman date (43-120AD). The wings are lost as are the axis bar, spring and pin; originally the wings were semi-cylindrical in plan. On the reverse of the head at the junction of the bow and wings is a sub rectangular cast socket like depression / hollow, which is thought to have been filled with a type of adhesive paste.
