A cast copper-alloy sewing needle of probable Roman date. It is possibly a Type three needle with a groove above and below a rectangular hole. This type suggests a 3rd to 4th century date. However, as such a small amount remains it is difficult to be certain. It measures 18.32mm in length, 8.50mm in width, 3.83mm in thickness and weighs 2.90g. It is similar to examples published from Colchester (Crummy, 1983, no 1991).
