A complete copper alloy Roman plate brooch in the form of a stylised bird. Unusual in form, the brooch has a central rectangular plate with central panel decorated with two complete lozenges with triangles at each side decorated with ring-and-dot decoration. Triangles border the central panel both above and below, and all were inlaid with enamel, however this has now degraded from the cells. A projection from the rear of the brooch forms a roughly triangular 'tail', again with cells of degraded enamel. The spring pin has two turns and is complete, as is the extended catchplate. No d…

The disc brooch is decorated with a groove around the circumference, and the domed area has two concentric bands of triangles, the outer band having fourteen, larger triangles.
