A cast copper alloy ring. The ring has been cast as one piece and has an asymmetrical section. One side of the ring is swollen with a circular section. It then tapers in both directions down to two pointed terminals. The terminals meet but are not joined. The metal is a mid greyish-green colour and is pitted, little wear can be seen. This object has few datable features. The recorder (Liz Andrews-Wilson) saw a very similar object on display in the Nuremberg Museum (Germany). Cast copper alloy mount in the shape of a floral cone. Leaves are depicted in high relief, arranged in scrolls around each other, in what seems to be a bouquet. On the reverse are two integral bent over hooks, presumably for attachment to leather. The surface is dark green and fairly smooth. This is probably a decorative brass from a harness, and most likely dates to the 17th-18th centuries.

Naval button, made of copper alloy, with gilt. The cast, gilded obverse depicts a crowned anchor with the legend ‘NAVAL PRISON.LEWES.’, and wire inner/ outer borders, the whole having a ropework border. The backplate is stamped with ‘FIRMIN & SONS + LONDON +’, within beaded borders. The backplate has a separatering, which has collapsed through the broken plate. Nineteenth-twentieth century.

A small cast copper alloy mount in the form of a flower. The obverse is convex, with decoration in high relief; there are four petals, arranged radially, with four sepals, and a central boss. The reverse is hollow with two bent-over hooks. The surface is dark brownish-green and smooth; the reverse is light buff/ green and pitted. This mount is likely to have been made for a leather strap.

A small flat plaque, cast in lead. The plaque is roughly rectangular with one rounded end and a broken end. One face is decorated with a crimped or rope-work border around the edge, and two parallel lines of the same running together down the middle; these two lines branch off into three curls on each side, the curls being made up of pellets in the same way as the borders. The surface is light grey. This may be a moulding from a coffin; it may be either Roman or post-Medieval in date.

A cast lead alloy button. The button is circular and domed. The cast design consists of a central annular shape. Between this and a border of indented holes are the apparent letters H I A(?) M O, few of which are clear. On the back is a transverse bar at the centre of which is the remains of a projecting loop. It is not clear if the latter has been cast as one with the disc or is a later addition.

An elaborate copper alloy crotal bell. The bell is made of two beaten hemispheres, soldered together around the middle. The bell is spherical, with a rectangular pierced lug at the top. This hemisphere has two small circular sound hole perforations; the base of the other has two perforations, joined by a slit (also known as the sound hole). The whole bell is decorated with radiating segments, which end in curved ends at the waist. The base has the initials FL on either side of the slit. The surface is smooth and dark green. This bell is post-medieval in date.

A lead ampulla. The artefact is crudely-made; it has a narrow body and a long neck, ending in a rough opening. The surface is rough, and may have been made of two beaten sheets which were soldered together. The surface is dark grey. This artefact dates to the medieval period, and would have held holy water; the crude design suggests an earlier medieval origin.

A terminal, one of a pair from either side of the footplate of a stirrup. This example has a trefoil at the lower end and a rounded knop at the upper end. Centrally is a pair of side extensions. On the lower face the sides of the terminal curve around to clasp the missing iron stirrup frame. There are no traces of engraved decoration.
