A silver plated copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander, much of the silver surviving especially on the reverse. The copy itself is a mule. The reverse has TRP XI, used on issues dated to 232, but the obverse inscription, IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG, uses a form only used on issues dated up to 231. The copy presumably dates to 232.

VIRTVS AVG reverse type depicting Virtus standing left holding Victory and resting hand on shield; spear against his left hand. As Mint of Rome. RIC IV, Pt II, p. 87, no. 220.
Many of the third century denarii in this assemblage appear to have a high copper alloy content. It is not immediately evident whether these are contemporary copies or just very base-silver official issues.
