Incomplete copper alloy skillet handle, semi-circular in section and 21mm wide at the (old) break (and 10mm thick). It is 87mm in length and weighs 95.42g. At the complete, rounded end it is 16mm wide and 8.5mm thick. The flat side of the handle is crudely decorated with two deep grooves running parallel to the edges. The area between these lines is filled with joining V-shaped grooves, of which there are five from the broken end. After the fifth is another deep groove running across the handle and creating a V-shaped groove in both edges. This creates an area 19mm in length to the rou…

Two large cast copper-alloy cooking vessel rim fragments likely to be medieval or early post medieval and between 1300-1600 in date. 1: Cast copper-alloy rimn fragment, measuring 112mm by 60mm in size with an original rim diameter of c40cm. The rim is thickened and there is a longitudinal ridge projecting down the outside of the fragment from the rim. Both the outer and inner faces of this fragment are blackened with sooting, implying that the vessel sat directly in an open fire whilst in use. 2: Cast copper-alloy rim fragment, 48mm by 51mm in size, with an original rim …

Copper-alloy sheet rivet, used to repair small splits in sheet vessels. It has the characteristic uneven hexagonal outline and is folded from a cut lozenge shape. It measures 23.5mm in length and 13mm in width. Similar folded rivets of this kind are known from Covehithe, Suffolk (see SF-B865E2) and medieval excavations in London they were used on copper-alloy sheet vessels from the early to mid-12th century to the late 15th century (Egan 1998, 176, fig 144).

A copper alloy possible vessel handle, now incomplete due to wear and old breaks. It is U-shaped with an oval cross-section, measuring 28mm in length and 31mm in width in total. Each arm measures 4.7mm in width. The incomplete terminal ends are flattened and it seems likely there was a small hole where they are now incomplete, which would have allowed this possible handle to be riveted to a copper-alloy vessel. No parallel could be found and this possible handle could be Roman or later in date.
