Object type: COIN
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Small rather thick coin (diam 11.5mm, thickness varying c.1.8 to 2.5mm), slightly dished and almost certainly Iron Age. Metal probably silver but discoloured. The reverse makes most sense as a horse to right, in the style of Icenian Pattern-Horse types with a double mane and simplified body but the obverse has a couple of high relief spots which make no sense as an Iceni design. Perhaps heat damaged?

County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A circular copper-alloy buckle with a central bar, measuring 20mm in external diameter and 15mm in internal diameter. The pin is missing but slight traces of corroded iron suggest that it may have been iron. This buckle is similar from examples from London and buckles of this form were used for spurs in the late medieval period (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 65-66, no 214).
