Copper alloy button in the form of a Roman radiate of Postumus. The obverse bust and inscription are clearly hammered through from the reverse, like a 'brockage'. The button is missing its loop on the back but there is corrosion in the area where it would have been attached. 19th – early 20th century

The body of the vessel has been indented and damaged and one side of the vessel is missing. Read (1988) illustrates and similar example on page 98, number 606, which is dated to the 15th century.

Cast and sheet copper alloy incomplete folding strap clasp with plates and simple one-piece frame. The sides of the frame are slightly convex and are decorated with a moulded ridge near each corner. The incomplete folding end is recessed from the frame and has a crudely filed ovoid bar-mount still riveted to it. The opposite plate also still retains its rivet at the end of the plate. The strap clasp probably functioned together with the shield-shaped strap ends illustrated in Egan (2002) on page 157, Fig.103, Nos.732-42 which are dated to c.1350-1400.
