This is a fragment of a larger pilgrim badge depicting the beheading of St. Alban, Britain's first Martyr. This find shows only the standing executioner, from the neck down, dressed in military garb. The soldier wears a coat of plates with laminated skirt, vambraces on the arms with small coulters at the shoulders. Leg harnesses with large side wings at the knees are also represented. A complete cast lead alloy token, dating from the 15th-17th century AD (diameter: 20mm; thickness: 1.1mm; weight: 2.94g). The token is decorated on both sides with a portcullis on one side, where the points at the bottom end in arrows. There is scrolled and 'frilled' decoration surrounding the border as well as a raised border around the outside edge. Upper half of a German second world war dog tag. The tag is flat, crescentric and has two holes at the curved edge. There are two tabs of metal protruding from the straight edge, which originally would have attached to the opposing crescentric side. One surface of the tag is stamped with the owners details. It reads "Stamm komp J.E.B. 348". Stamped on the line below is the letter "O" indicating the soldiers bloodgroup, and the number "16", indicating his role number. An incomplete cast lead-alloy secular probable brooch in the shape of a kite-shaped shield (Weetch Type 26). The flat sub-oval objecthas an integral pierced lug on either side, one of which is incomplete. The relief motif is a lion passant facing left in profile. The background behind the beast is cross hatched. Around the edge of the badge is a border of vertical lines. The object is broken behind the beast and is slightly folded in on the top edge. Lead disc pendant with bird motif. Sub-circular lead disc, one side is decorated with a central motif of a fanciful bird with open beak, feathers sticking up from top of head, three clawed feet, a circle representing the thorax, upraised wings and fanned tail, held within a plain border, surrounded by a corded border. Medieval lead alloy seal matrix, 27mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The object is in good condition with a cream patina and weighs 13.84 grams. The object is circular and has no obvious suspension loop or 'gripping' protrusion thats expected on a matrix. It is decorated on one side with a wide inscribed border with a central circular motif. The centre is divided into quarters and each has incised diagonal lines filling it. The inscription has some letters upside down and some not reversed, it appears to say PATRICHPRENDS.

A lead or lead alloy probable swivel strap fitting of medieval date, c. AD 1100-1500. of uncertain date. The hoop is of circular section and has an internal diameter of 17mm and has a thickness of 3.1 – 3.5mm. The bezel is open-backed and the hoop divides into two curving arms of D-shaped section (1mm wide by 2-3mm deep) which define an oval opening (internal: 8.6 x 5.7mm, external:12.2 x 8.3mm). The bezel is off-set from the hoop. The fitting weighs 3.6g.

Medieval lead alloy shield shaped weight, 56mm long, 40mm wide and 14mm thick. The object has a grey/white patina and is in good condition. It has a rectangular section with slightly tapering sides. It has a central suspension loop in its upper surface which is decorated with what appear to be plantagenet lions in a raised border 5mm wide. The lions are unusual, they resemble monkeys more than lions and are facing the wrong way! perhaps a contemporary fake?

Two Medieval to Post Medieval lead alloy weights, both are identical in form with one being slightly larger. The small one is 18mm high and 27mm in diameter with a weight of 80grams and the larger one is 20mm high and 28mm in diameter with a weight of 95grams. They are both in fair condition with a cream patina and patches of iron staining. They have circular bases with inward tapering sides and each has traces of an iron suspension loop in the centre of their upper surface. The similarity suggests they are part of a set.

A Medieval to Post Medieval lead alloy weight, 20mm high and 20mm in diameter. The weight is in fair condition with a cream patina and patches of iron staining. It has been roughly made and is conical in form. The cone is 16mm in diameter at its base and below this is a protruding disc 20mm in diameter and C. 3mm thick. It has traces of an iron suspension loop in the top of the cone and weighs 21.34 grams.

Post medieval lead alloy powder flask nozzle. The object consists of two main parts, a circular tapering nozzle 15mm long and 10mm wide at its base. This is fixed into the centre of a larger piece which is trapezoidal in plan and circular in section, which is 15mm high and 27mm wide at its base. The step that forms where these two parts meet has the remains of two small suspension loops which are squashed. The whole object has been squashed flat and has a powdery white patina.
