A complete cast iron spearhead, of probable Medieval date (length: 120mm; width at blade: 20.4mm; thickness of blade: 8.4mm; diameter of end of shank: 17.3mm; weight: 56.95g). The rounded wings of the blade are uneven to either side, with the rib clearly visible down the centre. The shaft is hollow and in a one piece without a split to the side, like with Anglo Saxon types, indicating that this artefact is probably later. There are possible remains of an iron rivet to the end of the shank, where the spearhead would have been fastened onto a wooden shaft. The artefact is worn and in…

A slightly incomplete cast iron foot patten, dating to the 17th/ 18th century AD (length: 147mm; width: 89.2mm; thickness/ depth: 27.7mm; weight: 96.46g). Although worn and corroded, many of the features survive. The oval frame has a uniform thickness and width throughout, with the remains of one protruding platform (now partly missing) at one end, and a raised triangular platform at the other end, which also has the remains of two lareg iron rivets on the underside, probably to help attach the patten on to the shoe to raise the feet from the ground.

At the top of the artefact, there is a small protrusion/ platform that seems to have been broken across the top. Both extensions to either side are incomplete, but one is longer and more intact than the other. Overall, the artefact is in a worn and corroded condition with numerous cracks at weeping on the surface. A similar example is illustrated in …

The object is an oval framed single looped buckle frame which has a buckle plate attached. The frame is made from iron, and the buckle plate from copper alloy. The buckle could date from the mid 12th century to 14th century. The buckle is a sub-oval shape in plan, but unfortunately the iron has corroded and exploded filling the void of the loop. The buckle plate is visible, caught at an oblique angle in the iron corrosion in the centre of the loop. One plate is visible where it should connect to the strap end. This terminal as two semi-circular indentations along the edge, possib…
