A copper-alloy strap end, dating to the late second to fourth century AD. The strap end is hemispherical in section, 'fish' shaped, with its body expanding and then tapering to a point. The strap end is not symmetrical, with one side tapering to a point before the other. The attachment loop is rectangular in plan with a rectangular perforation and is worn. It is similar to an example excavated from South Shields Roman fort (Allason-Jones and Miket, 1984, 3.602, p.188-18). The strap end measures 47mm in length, 8mm in width and has a weight of 6.3g. This strap end is likely to be an unusual variant on the 'amphora' type, more elgonated and narrower than other examples but still retaining a basic 'amphora' shape, it measures 60mm in length and 12mm in width. A Roman amphora - shaped strapend. There is a single, central rivet hole through the belt slot. There is a narrow angular waist with the edges of two parallel, incised, transverse lines visible, just below the rivet hole. The strapend then quickly broadens out and then tapers gradually producing a long slender point. There are faint indications of transverse chevrons across the widest point of the front face.

An incomplete late Roman copper alloy leaf-shaped strap end with both ends now missing, but likely to have had a bifurcated tip. It is 33.8mm long and 15.2mm at its widest point. The engraved ornament consists of large peacock and what is likely to represent the tree-of-life. The peacock stands in profile to the left and pecks the tree which has a cross-hatched trunk and four branches, three of which terminate in three fruits. There are two broken loops at the neck, with three broken ridges at the top. The neck is decorated with a transverse rope pattern above and below the line of the handles. The perimeter of the main body is decorated with line of punched dots.
