The edges of the dorsal surface has been retouched all around the distal end and partially along both sides, probably by pressure flaking. Nineteen microburins, largest length 15mm, width 10mm, thickness 3mm, smallest length 6mm, width 6mm, thickness 1mm. These are the butts of microlithis and are waste products from the manufacturing process. Most have one arise on the dorsal. All have either concave retouch on one of the corners, which would have facilitated the removal of the point from the butt, or this area is snapped without the retouch. A probable chisel arrowhead of later Neolithic date. The arrowhead has been made from a flat tertiary waste flake. The striking platform has been removed to form a wedge shape. Lithic implement. Teardrop shaped in plan and sublozenge shaped in section. Hazel Martingell notes that this piece of light brown flint with cream coloured inclusions is a natural flint with pot lid fractures. However there are knapped areas. These pieces are called ‘tools of convenience’ as they are a mixture of natural and worked removals. These pieces are typical of the later prehistoric period, 1,500BC and onwards, but do continue to be used into the historic period. The piece recorded here was probably used as a pick or scraper. Late Neolithic probable polished stone axe (incomplete): Slightly tapering segment of a carefully polished ‘bar’ of reddish brown granular stone (probably quartzite) with an oval cross section (maximum 49mm x 31mm). Both ends have transverse breaks but at the slightly narrower end there is a trace of polished surface which suggests a rounded end (probable butt).
