Cast copper alloy Roman mount sometimes known as a ‘bell shaped stud’. It consists of a disc that is 18.8mm in diameter and 2.64mm high from which extends a circular shafted ‘neck’ for 2.44mm. The ‘neck’ is slightly stepped having a diameter of 13.44mm. The ‘neck flares out into a wide, shallow bell shape, 6.48mm long and 23.82mm in diameter. This makes the object circular in plan with a flared trapezoidal section. The rim of the ‘bell’ is curved. The ‘underside’ of the bell or flared area is countersunk with a flat bottom. Protruding from the centre of the counte…

A fragment of a cast copper alloy bracelet with snake head terminals, dating from the 1st-4th century AD (length: 43mm; width at terminal: 11mm; thickness at terminal: 1.5mm; weight: 3.52g).
The flat curved bracelet fragment, representing less than half of the original artefact is still curved in shape and is decorated on the outer side only. The decoration at the broken end (not a recent break) consists of a single line of crude and irregular crescent indentations in the centre of the bracelet (most probably indicating the scales of the snake), but the indentations then develop int…

There appears to be small traces of red enamel in the eye indentation. The neck of the bird curls and expands in width to form a wider body where there are eight cells present (these lead down to the bottom of the brooch), five of which has small amounts of white…

Very large lead shield shaped weight. The weight has a large moulded cross in the centre with two crudely incised diagonal lines running from top left to bottom right showing the weight as a crest. There is one incised chevron in the central band beneath the cross, and it is likely that there were more that are now lost to wear and damage. In the centre of the weight there are two broken iron pins which would have been used to suspend the weight. The mass of the weight is 7lbs 3oz.
