Cast and struck lead cloth seal of sixteenth or seventeenth century date (AD 1500 - AD 1700) from the town of Turnhout (now in Belgium). Length 23mm, diameter 17mm. Weight 4.05g. A two disc seal: Disc 1 (with rivet). Shield charged with a pale, the arms of the town of Turnhout (now in Belgium) and [V]RN of the town name registered around that. Disc 2. Star of David motif around central rivet hole.

Complete cast copper allooy spur rowel of Post Medieval date (AD 1500 - AD 1800). Diameter 34mm, thickness 2mm. Weight 3.85g. The rowel has ten alternating long and short points. Each of the longer points terminate with a rounded endand the shorter points are sharper at the ends. One of the longer points is bent. A central circular perforation for the bar is 2mm in diameter. The metal is a reddish colour.

Complete grey patinated flint axe or adze of possible Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date (7000 BC – 3000 BC). Length 93mm, width 40.5mm and 25mm thick. Weight 95.44g. The implement has three faces and is sub-triangular in cross-section. The widest of these faces has a slight ridge along the longitudinal axis. Each face is “chipped” overall. As viewed in plan, it has a pointed butt and a curved cutting edge, one side of which has a transverse flake scar. The sides are convex in profile. There are small areas of iron staining on each face.

A pointed oval (vesica-shaped) seal matrix reverse (unseen) has a small suspension loop near the top. Device of a clothed left arm (from the shoulder onwards) with a bird of prey facing the owner of the arm perched on the hand, jesses visible below. The arm is on the right-hand side of the impression, bird on the left; above them, a five-pointed star; all within a narrow line separating the device from the legend area. Vestiges of a similar line denoting the outer edge of the matrix are visible in places. The find place was near Inverness, close to the site of medieval Hallhill Castle.

A cast copper-alloy roman dolphin brooch. The cylindrical wings conceal an axis bar with a hinged pin mechanism. The pin is now missing. The wings are decorated with a single rib at each end. The arched bow tapers to a point and has two slots for enamel, though no enamel remains. The surface of the brooch is covered in a bright green patina and there are some traces of tinning along the wings. The short catchplate is incomplete and measures 11.3mm in length and 3.4mm in width. The complete length of the brooch is 26.9mm, the width is 23.7mm and the weight is 5.27g.

The sherd is possibly a portion of the rim of a large storage type vessel. In profile the exterior surface of the sherd forms a ‘¬’ shape with curved edges. The short edge slightly undercuts the longer edge, and is therefore slightly more than a right-angle. The sherd is 39.4mm thick. The fabric is quite soft and fine. The core is a dark grey colour with an oxidised brown/orange colour. There are occasional grey grit-like inclusions, particularly visible on the surface. The sherd is slightly abraded, and weighs 98g. It possibly dates to the Roman period.
