Copper alloy openwork plate brooch, originally probably enamelled. Missing pin, damaged lugs and catchplate, corroded. The pin was hinged between two close set lugs, on the long axis. The outline of the plate is an oval but with straight long sides, and an open centre - the band is about 3.2mm wide, much of it with a recessed cell for enamel. On one side there are two projections, extending the line of divisions between the enamel cells. Probably half of a cast lead cloth seal. Badly damaged disc. There is no evidence of a hole or rivet to accomodate the other half but there is a deep impression on the reverse to suggest that the intention for this lead disc was to form a seal. There is no decoration or inscription but there are tool markings on the obverse and reverse.

Cast lead seal. Post-Medieval 16th-18th century in date. The obverse relief decoration depicts crossed keys within an encompassing concentric circle. The keys cross at the centre of the decoration which in turn create quadrants and there is a number 2 between the two shanks and an 'x' in the opposite quarter. The reverse of the object is plain except for an inconspicuous central ridge from one side to the other.

Cast lead seal of cloth seal type with a central hole. Shows evidence of being bent in the middle. Late Medieval/Early Post-Medieval in date. Only one half of the seal remains but a segment of the lead strap which would have connected the other half - the riveted lead disc - is visible. The hole in this remaining half would have accomodated the connecting rivet. None of the cloth survives. The decoration on the seal is weak and worn. A probably Roman silver finger-ring. This is a fragment and includes the bezel and approximately 45 percent of the hoop. The bezel comprises a slightly raised rectangular section (length 8.6mm; width 7.24mm). The front of the bezel has a small pattern cut in negative relief, possibly representing a bird in profile. Alternatively this may not be a pattern, merely damage. The hoop on either side of the bezel has been moulded to form a beaded section 10.26mm long. Cast clay pipe bowl. Post-medieval in date. Large bowl with thin walls. Spur in tact but the stem has broken off close to the bowl body showing the hole to be slightly off centre in section. The prominence of the spur would dictate a late 18th century - 19th century date. It was during this period that decoration on the surface of clay pipes began to increase. This bowl is decorated with plant motifs along the base and the top and the sides are decorated one with a bale of corn sheaths and the other with a tree, possibly oak.

Medieval copper alloy buckle lock, 40mm long and 6mm in diameter. The object is in a fair condition with a green patina and weighs 5 grams. The object is shaped like a fish hook and terminates with a rounded knop. The shaft is chamferred with six flat edges and it gradually becomes thicker, from 3mm to 6mm, as it curves round to form a 'hook' This terminates with a recessed circular sectioned shaft, which has snapped off but would have held the lock in place in the buckle frame. The object is similar to fig 552 in Whitehead, R. Buckles 1250-1800.

Medieval or Post Medieval white metal buckle, 25mm in diameter and 5mm thick. The object is in good condition with a silver/grey patina and weighs 2.19 grams. The object resembles a scalloped annular brooch and has a curved upper surface and a flat underside. Each curve has a small knop protruding from it and it has an irregular thickness, suggesting poor casting? The feature that identifies it as a buckle is the remains of a shaft with a semi-circular section, protruding into the centre of the object. Given its size it must be a purely decorative buckle.

A complete copper-alloy harness pendant suspension mount with a pendant suspended from it, the pendant itself is unusual being a simple U-shape, perhaps meant to represent a spur. The front of the brooch has a small circular hole at the centre where there would have originally been a protruding knop - this may have been cast separately and therefore has been lost from the brooch. Copper alloy fitting, possibly from a harness. The object is likely to be medieval. The fitting has a circular flat plate attached to a hinged arm with a small loop at the end. The fitting appears to have functioned as some sort of swivel as both the arm and terminal are pierced. The front of the plate is decorated with a crude cross with a dot in each quadrant (three of these dots are blocked but the fourth is a hole). On the reverse there is some iron staining. The object weighs 2.54g and measures 27.7mm in length, 11.5mm in width and 5.2mm in thickness.

Incomplete Medieval horse harness strap junction. The fitting is lozenge shape, with a semi-circular knop at two of the angles and measures 36mm across. The open circle in the centre of the lozenge has a diameter of 11mm. One corner of the lozenge is missing, and a rectangular bar with a square shaped terminal extends from the opposite angle. Cast in copper alloy the fitting is now dull brown in colour, with patches of light green on the surface. The total length of the fitting is 41mm.

Post Medieval finger ring. Cast in copper alloy this ring now has a dark grey patina. The hoop is 21mm in diameter and is undecorated with stepped shoulders. There is a sub-lozenge shaped bezel with a floral design around the edge bordering the inscription MEMENTO MORI (remember death). Mourning rings were given out at funerals in memory of a specific person however they may also have been worn as a constant reminder of the inevitability of death.

Possibly a incomplete Roman nail cleaner of type 2a. The suspension loop is missing, as is the tip of the blade. The remaining section of the nail cleaner is 43mm long and leaf shaped. The shoulders are 11mm at their widest point while the tip is 4mm wide. The surface is decorated with a central line of squares along its length and a narrow groove running parallel to the edges. Cast in copper alloy, the nail cleaner now has a light green patina due to corrosion. Nail cleaners of this shape date to the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. Similar shape can be seen in Crummy 1983, page 58.

The outside edge of the fastener is beaded, with eight beads on either length and a single bead positioned to each side and in the centre of the loop attachment. The hook is complete and has a moulded circle with two grooves at its head. The reverse is completely plain. The fastener is light green-grey in colour due to surface corrosion. It is 40mm in length, and 15mm wide at the widest point.

Cast copper alloy mount of a human face. The mount is of a head only, no shoulders or neck are present. The worn face with sunken eyes and a rounded nose is bordered by short or pulled back hair. Some of the original copper-alloy patina shows through the layer of dark green corrosion. Identified from photograph, the figurine was descriped as a mount by the finder. The photograph only depicts the front of the mount, there is no image of the reverse to see the mount fittings. Head mounts were used by the Romans to decorate vessels. There are traces of gilding on both faces of this hooked tag.

Copper alloy plate brooch, cast in the shape of an elongated bow. The brooch is complete with a copper alloy hinged pin and catchplate on the reverse. The surface of the brooch is highly corroded with traces of silvering or tinning on the front. The front of the brooch also has red-orange enamel, however there are no raised fields in which the enamel would have been contained. An incomplete copper-alloy spoon of post-medieval date. The terminal is 9mm long, comprising of bead, reel and spool mouldings. From the terminal the object expands to 'shoulders' before tapering; overall it is broadly leaf shaped. It has a dull green patina. The break in the handle is probably due to recent plough damage as it does not appear worn. Complete cast copper alloy pendant. The pendant is sub triangular in shape and is vertically symmetrical. The top of the pendant is 18mm wide and is comprised of two sub circular knops bordering a third knob that has been utilized as a suspension loop (the attached suspension ring in the photograph is modern). An incomplete copper-alloy strap end of Gabor Thomas Class A of early medieval circa 9th century in date. This example measures 32.3mm in length and 10.2mm in width, with a tapering zoomorphic terminal end. The attachment end is missing due to an old break. Incomplete cast copper alloy object. The subrectangular fragment has a worn transverse break. Decorated with two ring and dot moulded designs which take up the width of the bar. Each design consists of two concentric rings, with diameters of 15mm and 8mm, and a central dot of 2mm.
