Object type: INGOT
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Central Bedfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An assemblage of bronze ingot fragments. The suggested date of this 'hoard' is late Bronze Age. This is based on a fragment of a socketed axe (see BH-0B42E8), which was found close by and is probably associated. The pieces range in size from 22.9mm long and 19.8mm wide, to 104.3mm long by 61.3mm wide and 32.8mm thick. The larger pieces clearly originate from plano-convex ingots, which may have measured up to 300mm across. The surfaces are heavily corroded. The total weight of the assemblage is 3.3844 kg.

Object type: BRACELET
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Isle of Wight
Workflow stage: Published
Fragment of a gold bracelet of Late Bronze Age date (c. 1150 BC - c. 750 BC). Length 20mm, width 22mm and c. 0.5mm thick. Weight 3.53g.
The fragment is a terminal of sheet gold which has been roughly flattened out. The terminal is oval in plan and adjoins a short remaining stretch of a broad band. At this end there is an old break. Undulations in the metal suggest that the band met the terminal in a strong curve; the original form can be reconstructed as a C-section band with an everted oval terminal.

Copper alloy fragmentary object, probably a medieval spur buckle with integral plate.
It was originally described as a post-medieval mount, with the following description: The main body of the object is subrectangular in plan and flat in section. Presumably these would have extended up and round into a loop of indeterminate shape,(though probably sub-circular given the angles of the lugs). At the bottom end of the main body, the object extends into …

A medieval silver-gilt bezel, or mount, in the form of a crown above a foliate element. The curved shape suggests the object may have been a finger-ring bezel. The crown is pierced by four holes, and the lower element by two holes. The gilding is worn. The length of the bezel is 15mm and the width is 14.5mm.
