A cast copper alloy unidentifiable object, which could be a tap handle from a post-medieval tap. The object has been formed from one solid piece of copper alloy. The metal is flat but quite thick (6.45mm). The object is roughly T-shaped with decoratively cut edges slightly changing the shape. The cross bar of the T-shape survive in full, but the vertical part of the T has largely broken off. The broken end is very worn and the surface of the mid brownish-green metal is quite heavily pitted.

Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Published
A tear dropped shaped lead weight, with a small circular perforation running through the centre of the weight. The hole, which runs through the centre of the weight, is now largely filled with lead corrosion product and soil. These weights are not yet completely understood. It is possible they could have been fishing weights dating from the medieval period or later, but due to a lack of excavated examples these weights must remain undated. The weight is undecorated, but both ends are well rounded. The weight is complete. The lead is a light whitish-grey colour.

A cast lead bun shaped weight measuring 36.89mm by 17.47mm, and weighing 148g. There is no obvious decoration. There is a deep gouge mark at 12 o'clock and two shallower marks at 6 o'clock on the obverse of the weight. These are neither worn or fresh. It is possible that this dates from the medieval period or later, but due to the lack of excavated examples these weights remain undatable. Therefore this weight could date to any time between the Roman and Early Modern period.
