Copper alloy decorative two part fitting, probably a strap (or harness) fitting of Early Medieval date. There is a generally D-shaped loop formed by a curved element which is circular in section and thickens at the ends to form moulded zoomorphic terminals (L. 20.5mm. W. 21.7mm. Th. 4.5mm). The animals are related to those seen on Romanesque swivel fittings. The terminals are linked by a straight, narrow oval-sectioned bar. The second part is formed by a longer copper alloy piece which is bent over on itself, forming an upper and lower plate, and hangs from the bar of the first p…

Complete cast copper alloy buckle loop of probable Medieval date (AD 1200 – AD 1400). Length 13mm, maximum width 17mm and 2mm thick. Weight 1.51g. The frame is trapezoidal in plan and roughly rectangular in cross-section. The front and rear faces are flat. It has two, slightly off-centre, internal pointed projections which are aligned opposite to each other in the longitudinal plane. These projections allowed the belt or strap to be adjusted. The buckle loop is in good condition and has a dark green patina.

Copper alloy object, a fitting for a belt or strap, with a hook for suspension or for attaching to another fitting. The object comprises a flat circular plate with openwork decoration (D. 23.3mm. Th. 2.2mm) and a hook which extends from one side of the plate. On one surface of the plate there is a crude image of a crescent moon with a face, looking at a star. The shaft tapers to a rounded point and is bent back on itself to form the hook (W. 4.62-3.1mm. Th. 2.6-1.75mm).
