Complete cast copper alloy object, possibly a harness fitting. Probably Late Iron Age or Early Roman (100 BC – AD 100). Length 33mm, width 33mm and overall thickness 10mm. Weight 9.86g.
The object is flat with a thickness of about 3.5mm. It is lozenge-shaped in plan with an integral loop at the rear. Each corner of the lozenge extends and evolves to form a spheroidal terminal. A cast copper alloy strap slide or mount. It is dumbbell shaped with faceted terminals and chamfered edges. The mount is decorated with a border of punched circles bounding incised decoration of half-moons and pellets. There are two spikes on the reverse, both broken, which may have once formed a rectangular attachment loop. The surface has a dark green patina with areas of reddish corrosion. From the decorative style it is likely to be Roman in date.

A complete cast copper alloy strap fitting or ‘strap-slide’ with enamelled decoration, dating from the 1st-3rd century AD (length: 20.5mm; width: 18.5mm; thickness/ depth: 13mm; weight: 5.85g).

Cast copper alloy mount, diameter 39mm, thickness 8.5mm, weight 16.42g. The mount has a circular diameter and is slightly domed in cross section, outside edge is 1m thick the centre is 4mm thick. Medieval copper alloy swivel from leash, two D-shaped loops each with stylised animal-head terminals gripping sides of transverse domed element (each half 28 x 24mm and 27 x 23mm, combined length 46mm). The two domed elements are joined, presumably, by an integral rivet on one being inserted into a socket on the other, although most of the junction is hidden from view. 12th century.

The undecorated mount comprises a sub-rectangular plate with an integral hook. The plate is convex at the front and flat at the rear. A cast copper-alloy sword belt fitting. The flat asymmetrical plate has an elongated trefoil terminal, which is waisted to a drop-shaped central area. This central area then expands to oval area which then tapers to an integral hook with a rounded knop on then end. There is a rivet hole in the trefoil area and another in the oval area, both of are filled with iron residue. The plate is decorated with incised scrolled foliage.
