Complete cast copper alloy object, possibly a harness fitting. Probably Late Iron Age or Early Roman (100 BCAD 100). Length 33mm, width 33mm and overall thickness 10mm. Weight 9.86g. The object is flat with a thickness of about 3.5mm. It is lozenge-shaped in plan with an integral loop at the rear. Each corner of the lozenge extends and evolves to form a spheroidal terminal. A cast copper alloy strap slide or mount. It is dumbbell shaped with faceted terminals and chamfered edges. The mount is decorated with a border of punched circles bounding incised decoration of half-moons and pellets. There are two spikes on the reverse, both broken, which may have once formed a rectangular attachment loop. The surface has a dark green patina with areas of reddish corrosion. From the decorative style it is likely to be Roman in date.

Medieval copper alloy swivel from leash, two D-shaped loops each with stylised animal-head terminals gripping sides of transverse domed element (each half 28 x 24mm and 27 x 23mm, combined length 46mm).
