A well-made seal matrix with a circular base and hexagonal handle tapering to a triple collar with a trifoliate suspension loop above with circular drilled aperture. Device of hare riding a dog, facing left. Hare may be holding a hunting-horn; drawing not very clear. 24 mm high. The central device is part of the popular "the world upside down" group. The legend was originally read as ALAS BONVS but is more likely to be one of the variants on an ALAS BOWLES motto, which is currently mysterious in meaning.

A fragment lead seal matrix, over half of which is now missing due to old breaks. This seal matrix appears to have originally have been circular in shape and measured c36mm in diameter. Projecting from one edge is the remains of an integral suspension loop. The front face is decorated with what was originally a fleur de lis with smaller stalks terminating in fleur de lis inbetween the main lobes. The border inscription which remains begins with a cross patty and reads; SIGILL[ ]VLI. This seal matrix is likely to have been a personal one and dates to the 13th century.

A complete lead seal matrix of pointed oval shape measuring 38mm in length and 26mm in width. There is no remains of a suspension loop at either end or on the back face. The front face has a central depiction of a bird, possibly a chickhen, viewed side on and walking right with its wing raised and ist head looking back along the length of its body. There border inscription reads SIGILL: ALIEIE DE HASTIGE, meaning 'the seal of Alice De Hastige.' This is therefore a personal seal matrix and is medieval and circca 13th century in date.
