A well-made seal matrix with a circular base and hexagonal handle tapering to a triple collar with a trifoliate suspension loop above with circular drilled aperture. Device of hare riding a dog, facing left. Hare may be holding a hunting-horn; drawing not very clear. 24 mm high.
The central device is part of the popular "the world upside down" group. The legend was originally read as ALAS BONVS but is more likely to be one of the variants on an ALAS BOWLES motto, which is currently mysterious in meaning.

A pointed-oval medieval lead seal matrix. The central motif appears to be a lily with a long leafy stalk; a groove forms the stalk, there are three petals at the top, and three evenly spaced pairs of triangular leaves down the stalk. There is a small groove crossing the stalk close to the base. There may be a slight groove separating the inscription from the central motif, but without an impression it is hard to be sure.
Steven Ashley has kindly helped with the reading of the inscription. He writes "The inscription appears to be +. S'hENRICI OLER, or the seal of Henry Oyler, maker …

A lead vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix. The reverse has a midrib with suspension loop at the top. The matrix is cracked and corroded. The device is damaged but may have been based on a fleur-de-lis, as there is a triple-forked groove at the bottom; it is surrounded by a groove. The lettering is well-spaced and clear, but the first three letters are indistinct. What can be made out is +S' I II DOLT' I DRVERI, with the initial cross T-shaped (perhaps incomplete) and the first D reversed. The apostrophe after the T is very large and horizontal, making the letter look a bit like …

A lead vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix, flat plain back with pierced D-shaped lug at top intact. Device of slender fleur-de-lys with long falls, separated from lettering area by a fine line. Inscription reads + S' : AVICIE : FIL' : IC__ (Seal of Avice, daughter of.....) The name of Avice's father is partly missing and cannot be read. Avice was a fairly common woman's name in medieval times, but is very rare today. See PUBLIC-D986E9 for another example of the name.
Piece is in relatively poor condition, but surviving legend is well cut.

From the image, it can be seen that the inscription reads S' LAVRENCI PISTORIS, or Seal of Laurence Baker (compare HAMP3150, the seal of Nicholas Baker). 'Pistor' is Latin for 'baker'.

The front of the matrix is engraved with a cross with two sub-triangular wedges below and two lozenges above the horizontal band. These were probably originally four nails arranged radially around the cross and may relate to the owner's name.
