A cast copper-alloy medieval seal matrix. The matrix has a hexagonally faceted conical handle ending in a circular pierced terminal. The collar of the terminal consists of two ribs. The centre of the circular matrix has a hare facing right with a crescent underneath. Malcolm Jones kindly comments on the legend as follows, correcting an initial reading [see notes below]: 'A beautifully clear impression -- as far as I can see the legend reads SOHOVLU?IMHER -- clearly composed of the familiar "sohou" cry and then LU?IMHER [the sequence is certainly -IM- and not -MI- as presently read]…

A substantial vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix with flat plain back other than slightly raised midrib and intact suspension loop at top of same. Extant photographs are rather poor and the piece is damaged, but it was never of the finest quality. A wavering fine line devides the device area fron the lettering, and a similar line marks the outer edge of the face. Measurements: 22 mm wide x 35 mm long

A lead pointed oval shaped seal matrix of medieval 13th century date. Measuring 32mm in length and 14mm in width, There is a worn incomplete integral suspension loop projecting from one tip. The front face has a central pointed oval shape with two parallel dots within it. Around this the border legend, which is now in places unclear, appears to read; S' AGN' E: HA-(possibly 'C' retrograde) BISSC or BUSC.' Meaning 'the seal of Agnes Ha-bissc/busc.' This is therefore a personal seal belonging to an individual woman whose full name can no longer be read.
