Cast copper alloy seal matrix, 13th to 14th century.
The seal has a pointed oval shape 'vessica' form. On the reverse is a median raised rib, approximately 2.7mm wide, down the length . Near the top of the rib is a lug with a single piercing. The die of the seal has been engraved. The central motif is 21.9mm long by 10.9mm wide. Its upper section contains two figures the larger of the two and is wearing a three pointed crown and is looking outwards. Cast copper alloy pedestal / pendant seal matrix of medieval date (1250-1400). The die is roughly circular in plan with a diameter of 18.8mm. The reverse rises to a height of 24.3mm terminating in a triangular perforated loop. The body of the matrix is a pedestal formed from six tapering sides. This terminates in a series of molded bands and the loop. The seal matrix weighs 9.65 grams.
The die depicts two figures - a woman holding a small child / baby - Virgin and Child. The female / Virgin is depicted rather crudely with the style of dress being formed by incised crescent shapes…

Seal matrix with a circular base and hexagonal waisted handle terminating in a circular suspension loop .with circular aperture. Device is a very unusual agnus Dei with a bird's head: the seated lamb faces right, a cross-topped staff from which flies a double-tailed banner runs in front of its hind legs. Unusually, this cross does not extend into the lettering area, although it does touch the line which separates the device area from the lettering area; a similar line defines the outer edge of the matrix. 20 mm in diameter, height 21 mm
