An incomplete cast copper-alloy trapezoidal shoe buckle. The moulded frame has been drilled for a separate spindle, which is now missing. Around the spindle holes are moulded transverse ridges. The length is 30.0mm, the width is 15.7mm and the weight is 4.77g.

A single looped oval buckle with integral forked spacer, cast in copper alloy. The buckle frame has a triangle lip projection where the terminal of the pin would have rested. The pin recess sits in-between the forks of the spacer, on the strap bar. The pin is missing. The buckle plate is also missing. Both prongs are broken. The tapering prongs of the forked spacer have two steps cut into the copper alloy. This stepping occurs on the inner edges of the fork. The front of the oval buckle has a chamfered edge, but the fork and the reverse of the oval buckle are flat and have squared edge…

A cast copper alloy double looped buckle frame, with a narrow strap bar.
There is no pin recess, the pin is missing.
Both surfaces are undecorated. The buckle is complete apart from the missing pin.
The buckle is a dark reddish-brown colour and the surface is quite pitted.
These buckles date from circa 1350 - 1650.
Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p53.

This pin has an open loop, which is now oncomplete due to an old break and measures 40.8mm in length and 5.4mm in width. It has a lozenge-shaped cross-section and tapers towards its teminal end.

Two identical copper alloy buckles, one with buckle plate remaining. Oval buckles with central inset bar. The frame widens slightly where it meets the bar. The back is flat and rough, with concave interior. The front surface is highly polished.
On a) the iron pin remains, attached by a loop at the wider end. It has a bluish appearance, possibly from surface coating.
