Roman cast copper alloy Hod Hill brooch fragment, wings and upper part of bow only, 1st century. The hinged pin is missing. The rolled over wings are undecorated. There is an undecorated rectangular area at the top of the bow, then it is decorated with a central longitudinal raised corded line, with a deep shallow groove to either side. The lower part of the bow is broken off. Dark brown patina. Length 22.00mm, width (across wings) 26.94mm, width (top of bow) 8.18mm, thickness 9.92mm, weight 6.21g.

Roman cast copper alloy headstud brooch fragment, lower part of bow and foot only, 2nd century. The flattened bow is decorated with rectangular cells, one of which contains traces of red enamel. There are two transverse grooves at the junction between the bow and the disc-shaped foot, which has an incuse circle at the centre of the base. The catchplate is damaged. Roman cast copper alloy dolphin type brooch, 1st century. Most of the hinged pin is broken off. There is a faint narrow groove at the end of each of the circular sectioned wings. The bow is decorated with a longitudinal raised triangular sectioned ridge with transverse notches along its apex. There is no definite foot, the bow simply terminates. The catchplate is complete. Fine green-brown patina; the pin appears to be a different alloy, having much light green powdery corrosion. The lower part of the bow is flattened, and slighty expanded towards the base, although both corners are damaged; it is decorated with three ring and dot motifs - one at the top and two side by side at the base. The bottom of the bow terminates in a raised transverse ridge. The catchplate is complete. Fine green patina. Possibly a bow and fantail brooch (with narrow fantail), 1st-2nd century. Cast copper alloy knob from a 'Florid' cruciform brooch with, a stylised human face at centre, and eagles' heads on either side and plain rectangular strip above. There is a projecting pierced flange (width 5,2mm, length c.4.5mm) towards top of the reverse of the knob, then some iron corrosion below , including what appears to be iron pin going through the hole above, then copper alloy rivet to either side (visible on the obverse, just below each eye) securing the remains of a rectangular iron(?) sheet strip which would have covered and held the iron pin. The central section is decorated with a raised pointed oval panel again containing a ring and dot. The pin loop survives (although the rest of the pin is missing) and no longer moves freely. There appears to be a wide shallow groove on the upper part of the bow leading down to an expanded circular section with central circular depression and rounded knops (with grooved collars) on either side. Double grooved border, the inner ring being decorated with a double band of annulets, and the outer ring with loose S-scroll - all gilded. Pin hinge broken, pin missing, catchplate complete.
