Object type: HINGE
Broad period: MODERN
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Openwork iron fitting. It bears a superficial resemblance to a stirrup-strap mount. The object is roughly trapezoidal, with 5 circular holes perforating its body, and an angled flange projecting from its narrow edge. However the perforations are sunken to recieve screws, and this is probably a post-Medieval or modern fitting such as a hinge plate.

Record ID: KENT-A7F8B5
Object type: KNIFE
Broad period: EARLY MEDIEVAL
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Published
Single edged iron blade, with angled back and remains of tang surviving. In general form this artefact is similar to a large knife or small seax of the early Anglo-Saxon period but this may be coincidental; the bulk of the object is suggestive of a later date, and indeed this may be some form of agricultural item rather than a knife.
