A flint thumbnail scraper which probably dates from the early Bronze Age. The scraper has been made from a small regular flake, from which the bulb of percussion has been removed. There are fint ripples on the ventral surface and a number of flaking scars on the dorsal surface. The edges of the dorsal surface has been retouched all around the distal end and partially along both sides, probably by pressure flaking. The mottled light and dark grey flint has a mid gloss patina. Dimensions: 30.63mm by 23.72mm by 4.72mm Weight: 5.08g

An Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead. The arrowhead has been made from a flake, which was invasively retouched on both sides by pressure flaking. The arrowhead has a tang but no protruding barbs. Its small size, light weight and large length to breath ratio place it as a Sutton type (Butler 2005, pp. 162-3). The light brownish-cream flint has a low-gloss patina.

A barbed and tanged flint arrowhead of probable early Bronze Age date. The object measures 23.1mm high by 15mm wide and 3.8mm thick. The main part of the body is triangular in shape, extending to a sharp point at the top and terminating in a barb at one of the bottom corners. The opposite corner has been broken off in antiquity. The tang is sub-rectangular and measures 6.5mm long by 5.3mm wide. Both surfaces of the object are convex and have been formed by pressure flaking. The edges appear to have been deliberately serrated. The surface of the object is heavily weathered. The weight …

Lithic implement. Teardrop shaped in plan and sublozenge shaped in section. Hazel Martingell notes that this piece of light brown flint with cream coloured inclusions is a natural flint with pot lid fractures. However there are knapped areas. These pieces are called ‘tools of convenience’ as they are a mixture of natural and worked removals. These pieces are typical of the later prehistoric period, 1,500BC and onwards, but do continue to be used into the historic period. The piece recorded here was probably used as a pick or scraper. It is 137.78mm long, 85.06mm wide, 30.76mm wide …

Barbed and tanged arrowhead dating from the early to middle Bronze Age. This arrowhead is bifacially worked with covering removals and is triangular in shape. Two notches were flaked at the proximal end to form the tang and barbs which are now damaged. The tip of the arrowhead has been snapped, and the edges of the arrowhead show clear signs of plough damage. It is 25.75mm long, 19.47mm wide, 5.1mm thick and weighs 2.49 grams.

Five notched implements, length width thickness. All have semi-abrupt scaled retouch in the form of a concave recesses on one side of the implement, on three of the artefacts this is direct and on the other two this is inverse. Two of the artefacts have a creamy patina, one has a grey patina, one is a mid brown flint with a creamy patina starting to form and the last is a dark brown flint. Two of the implements have been reused and the notch has been removed the patina exposing the natural flint. All date to the Bronze Age.

Twenty six miscellaneous retouched pieces, average size length 38mm, width 25mm, thickness 7mm. Most have multiple on the dorsal. All have been retouched with short, low angled flaking scars, most are direct but about 20% are inverse, about 45% are reused lithics with the retouch removing the patina from what would have been an already ancient waste flake. Six have a creamy patina, three have a light grey patina, eleven have a creamy patina with grey patches, four have a grey patina with darker patches and four are dark grey flints. All date to the Bronze Age. This is part of a…

Incomplete barbed and tanged flint arrowhead. This arrowhead has suffered some damage and is now missing the points to each barb and most of the tang. It is 33.68mm long, 27.82mm wide, 4.22mm thick and weighs 3.87g. The two long sides of the arrowhead form an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The flint is opaque and mid grey in colour, with small patches of creamy white. Flint arrowheads of this type were in use in the early Bronze Age sometime between 2200 and 1400BC. An example can also be seen in Pierpoint 1981, Prehistoric Flintwork in Britain figure 13, number 17.

A leaf shaped flint dagger, measuring 171mm in length, 50mm in width and 12.7mm in thickness. The tip is missing and one edge beside the tip is apparently reworked with steep edge retouch. Elsewhere there is fine all-over bifacial shallow flaking. The butt end is flatish and has a thicker cross-section than the tip half. The flint is a pale to medium grey and is atypical of the majority of local flint though reminiscent of flint axe coluring, suggesting a possible import into the area. Flint daggers were introduced as part of the so-called 'beaker package,' although Upper Palaeol…

Cream and light grey flint object, probably late Bronze Age. There are flake scars and ripples on all surfaces. At one end, presumably the distal end, the object appears to have been worked into a blade. Towards the proximal end, on one side there is a notch that appears to have been deliberately worked as there are flake scars and ripples. However, there is a flaw in the flint, which may have caused difficulties in working the flint. The object appears to be unfinished.
